Governor Balramji Das Tandon will hoist the national tri-colour at the main State-level Republic Day function to be held in Raipur’s Police Parade ground on Tuesday while Chief Minister Raman Singh will unfurl the national flag at Jagdalpur, headquarters of insurgency-riddled Bastar division.

Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been made across the State even as extra security measures have been put in place in Bastar which has a track record of leftist violence on days of national festivals.

The Governor on Monday wished the Armed Forces personnel deployed on the borders, citizens of the State and the nation on the occasion of 67th Republic Day on Tuesday. He wished rapid development of the State and prosperity to all citizens.

Tandon, in his message, recalled lakhs of freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives for the Independence of India and to have its own Constitution. India was the largest democracy in the world, he remarked.

He called upon youths “to be always vigilant to safeguard and protect the Independence of great nation. All the citizens should take a pledge and dedicate themselves for the welfare of the nation. There are immense possibilities for the fast development of Chhattisgarh and people should strive for all-round progress so that it joins the league of top States.”
