A scuffle broke out between the members of two communities at the satellite town of Mira Road in Thane district on the eve of the "Praan Pratisthaa" ceremony in Ayodhya, but the local police nipped the emerging law and order problem in the bud and brought the situation under control by Monday morning.
Trouble erupted on Sunday evening when the members of the majority community took out a procession to celebrate the impending consecration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya with flags of Lord Ram and Hanuman on their vehicles and chanting, "Jai Shri Ram".
Violence broke out when the procession was passing through a minority-dominated area, as some persons belonging to another community raised objections to the procession route, leading to heated arguments and clashes.
In the incident, one person sustained stab injuries, while some of the miscreants smashed the window-panes of several vehicles in the procession.
