The Supreme Court on Friday set out to examine a PIl that raised a serious allegation against UGC Chairperson of having obtained a PhD degree for his wife from Jamia Hamdard Deemed University in violation of the eligibility rules.
The apex court issued notice on the petition filed by Society for Value and Ethics in Education and sought responses from the Jamia Hamdard University, UGC, and Shimla, who is wife of UGC Chairman Ved Prakash and is currently the Registrar at YMCA University of Science and Technology in Faridabad.
The petition argued by advocate Piyush Sharma that the Chairperson’s wife obtained PhD in Federal Studies from the Centre for Federal Studies at the Jamia Hamdard Deemed University.
