SC gets dedicated customised pincode

Published on:

The Supreme Court on Thursday got its own dedicated pincode — 110201. With this, the delivery of urgent mails and petitions will be faster.

Speaking at the event held to launch the new code, Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam requested the Postal Department to replicate this facility even to High Courts. “You can first consider granting it to High Courts situated in cities like Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai,” Justice Sathasivam said.

Minister of Communications and IT and law and Justice Kapil Sibal said post offices are on the road to be digitised and could even serve as banks, for which the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given in principle approval.

Till date, all mails addressed to the Supreme Court were on the pincode 110001, which will continue. But the customised pincode, allocated to bulk mail recipients, “will reduce the transit time of mail delivery.”
