Saying thanks: Buoyant BJP plans 'yatra'

Buoyant with the success of ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ the BJP has planned to embark on a yatra to extend thanks to the people who thronged Prabhat Tara ground from every nook and corner of the State on Sunday. The move is aimed to keep the momentum alive and reap dividends during the forthcoming lok Sabha and the Assembly elections in the State.

The State leadership, in fact, is taking the mammoth rally addressed by the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as a campaign kicked off for the parliamentary elections.

BJP State president Ravindra Rai said that the party has decided to spread the message given the party’s prime ministerial candidate that 2014 is crucial for Jharkhand. “People want that we make extra effort in the direction of installing Modi as prime minister of the country,” said Rai, while addressing a press conference. So, to keep the message delivered by Modi alive the party has decided to organise a series of programme to express gratitude for the support extended by the people to Modi. The party expects that Modi wave will help them in triumphing Assembly elections in Jharkhand too.

“In coming days we will form a Government on our own,” maintained Rai. In fact, the State BJP also rolled-up its sleeves to counter charges leveled by the Congress and other Opposition parties after Modi blamed the Congress for the poor development of Jharkhand. The Congress had alleged that the BJP deceived people on development issues and criticized it for blaming Congress despite ruling the State for 10 out of 13 years.

The BJP instead blamed coalition politics and absence of a clear mandate in the Jharkhand Assembly for skewed development of the State. Modi had expressed shock at poor development despite rich mineral reserves in the State.

“It is true that we could not work as per people’s wish. Being in coalition we failed to live up to people’s expectations. The party will fulfill people’s aspirations if it forms government on its own,” conceded the State BJP president.

The BJP assured that it will apprise people of the money spent on organising the rally which was termed by the Congress as a flop-show. Notably, around 2,200 buses, 17,000 small vehicles, including four wheelers, 6,000 auto-rickshaws, 80 trucks, five special trains and innumerable motorcycles were pressed in service for the rally. “Our estimate suggests that around five lakh people have attended the rally. Several people could not make to the ground due to huge crowd turnout,” claimed Rai.
