In a series of counter offensives on Congress president Rahul Gandhi, BJP on Sunday denounced him and his party for allegedly destroying country’s institutions saying’ save the Constitution’ campaign by the Opposition party is an exercise to save the dynasty which has been rejected by the people.
leading the attack BJP President Amit Shah hit back at Congress which it accused of trampling over the Constitution in letter and spirit , time and again. Shah took on the Congress leader after he lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In an apparent reference to the Supreme Court last week rejecting pleas seeking probe into death of judge B H loya, the ruling party chief said “everyone knows” the reasons for which the judiciary has “invited the wrath of Congress the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty”, but he would not get into that.
“Modi hatred” is fast turning into “India hatred”, he said apparently in response to Rahul’s sharp criticism of Prime Minister. Shah said they were blinded by their disdain for Modi and were using “choicest of words and phrases to show India in bad light”.
BJP deployed two of its spokespersons Sambit Patra and Meenakshi lekhi to give a strong riposte to Rahul . BJP spokesperson said that Congress was facing impeachment from the people of India and that the dynast party seeks to flout law of the land and wants the law of dynasty to prevail in the country. lekhi and Patra said Congress Prime Ministers had tried to destroy institutions of the country to save their chairs.
lekhi “thanked” Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu for rejecting the Congress’s notice for impeachment of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and said the Opposition party’s attempt was an act of “blasphemy” towards the Constitution.
Congress was adopting “intimidatory” tactics towards the Supreme Court and its move was not an attack on the individual but an institution as it wanted to create anarchy by making people “lose” faith in the judiciary, she said.
lekhi accused the Congress of trying to create an impression in the world that India was a banana republic, something it had turned the country into when it was in power, by “disrupting institutions” and added that its institutions were “very strong” and command reverence of people.
Shah referred Congress’ move to impeach the Chief Justice of India and said it is part of a trend to demonise and weaken every institution that seeks to maintain its individual identity and does not “kowtow to the dynasty”, a reference to Rahul and Sonia. The BJP chief also cited the Congress’ alleged attack on the CAG, Election Commission, the Army and the Supreme Court at different points of time and its imposition of the Emergency in 1975 to hit back
“Those who do not trust the Army, the judiciary, the Supreme Court, the Election Commission, EVMs, the RBI are now saying democracy is in danger. India has a vibrant democracy and a vibrant Constitution.
“The Congress’ ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign is nothing but a farce that seeks to perpetuate the rule of dynasty over the rule of democracy. like in the past, we need to protect the Constitution from the Congress,” Shah said.
When Rahul says the Congress made the Constitution, he is continuing his family legacy of humiliating Bhimrao Ambedkar, Shah said. “By repeatedly saying the Congress made the Constitution, Rahul Gandhi is carrying forward his family tradition of insulting Dr. Ambedkar. The Nehru-Gandhi family insulted him when he was alive and is humiliating him even more now. Shameful and petty,” said Shah.
Shah also took to popular social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook with a post titled ‘Saving the Constitution or Saving Dynasty’ and accused the Congress of again taking the “only path it knows very well, of spreading hate and divisions in our society”.
Asking Rahul and his party to stop their “theatrics and aggression”, the BJP chief alleged that when the UPA was in power, the then Army chief was targeted and the entire Army was dragged into a political slugfest.
Shah also said the Congress had launched a tirade against the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) when the country was witnessing a “grand awakening against the corruption” of its government, while now it has trained its guns on the Election Commission by questioning the sanctity of the polling process after facing repeated electoral defeats in the last four years.
