In a strong show of support during Punjab’s ongoing flood crisis, Dr Surinderpal Singh Oberoi, noted philanthropist and Managing Trustee of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, has donated `1.5 crore to assist affected families.
The announcement was made by Prof. Jaswant Singh Brar, President of the Trust’s Malwa Zone, who commended Dr Oberoi’s consistent commitment to the people of Punjab. “Whenever Punjab faces a crisis, Dr S.P. Singh Oberoi is always among the first to step up — emotionally and financially,” he said.
Reacting swiftly to the worsening flood situation, Dr. Oberoi ordered the immediate release of funds and mobilized the Trust’s Punjab-based teams under the leadership of National President Jassa Singh Sandhu. Relief efforts were launched across the worst-hit areas without delay.
Essential items including ration kits, clean drinking water, animal fodder, mosquito nets, tarpaulins, blankets, medicines, and other daily-use necessities are being sourced from various locations. These are being distributed by the Trust’s district-level units, which are working in coordination with local administrations based on requests from Deputy Commissioners.
Volunteers from the Trust have been deployed across affected regions, working around the clock to ensure that aid reaches those most in need. Dr. Oberoi’s `1.5 crore donation is part of a larger
`15 crore commitment made by the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust to support ongoing flood relief and rehabilitation work in Punjab. His continued efforts reflect his deep commitment to humanitarian service and the well-being of Punjabis worldwide.
