The Enforcement Directorate — now probing the Saradha scam — stumbled on more facts and documents after the intense grilling of arrested Saradha chief Sudipto Sen’s son, wife and daughter-in-law, sources said.
According to the ED sources, the sleuths have discovered two more bank accounts and some forged land deeds of the Sens. The accounts, belonging to his wife Piyali, showed how these were used to give favours to some of the top Trinamool Congress politicians.
Quoting the ED reports, Congress leader and Serampore candidate, Abdul Mannan wondered how Piyali’s account was used to purchase the paintings of Mamata Banerjee.
“It is baffling as to how some crores of rupees were paid to purchase the Chief Minister’s paintings considering the fact that she is not an established artist” Mannan said adding that “If infact that happened then where are those paintings now, if there were any paintings to begin with.”
