The CBI probing multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam is looking at the Singapore angle, sources in the agency say.
According to reports the CBI sleuths have come to know after intense grilling of arrested Trinamool, Congress leader and former Bengal DGP Rajat Majumdar that a senior party leader who had a close chemistry with jailed Saradha boss Suditpa Sen used to frequently visit Singapore.According to reports a team of CBI officers have visited Singapore to find out the money trail. Details of the reports are however awaited.
Close to the Trinamool top brass Majumdar was allegedly a regular visitor to Sen’s Midland Park office, insiders said adding he had helped Sen in many ways including organising his flight from Kolkata and even stashing away his ill-gotten money abroad.Initially proving a hard nut to crack the former DGP has reportedly given some key information to his interrogators including the one that points at the Trinamool and Sen’s Singapore connection.
There were enough evidence to show that the Saradha money “have found its way to Singapore, Dubai and even the West.”
Curiously the latest revelations tend to come little more than a month after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a reported “business delegation” to Singapore leading the political opposition to wonder whether her visit had anything to do with rub out the trails of Saradha scam. The party even demanded a White Paper on the stated business trip.
The opposition said how out of the five days only a couple of days were kept for so-called business appointments questioning what other business the Chief Minister had to conduct during the remaining days.“As far as I know her work is only for one day, what she will do for four days when she repeatedly says she doesn’t believe in taking holidays,” BJP leader Siddharthnath Singh said.
Even jailed Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh publicly alleged that the biggest beneficiary of the Saradha deals was Banerjee herself whereas reports revealed that IRCTC a Railway Ministry subsidiary had gone out of the way to strike a deal with the Saradha Tours and Travels when Banerjee was the Railway Minister.
