The attack against Puthiya Thalaimurai, a Tamil TV channel created a major controversy with various political parties condemning the Sangh Parivar outfits for trying to violate the freedom of expression while the Hindu outfits deny any role in the attack.

Forty five-year-old Jayam Pandi, who claims himself to be the president of Hindu Illaignar Sena (Hindu Youth Army) surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate, Madurai, in connection with the bomb attack against the Tamil TV Channel in Chennai on Thursday.

Though the attack happened in Chennai around 3 am on Thursday, Pandi surrendered at Madurai within hours of the attack. Police in Madurai said he has been sent to judicial custody for 15 days. Pandi is an accused in many cases including attempt to murder.

But, Virat Hindu Sangatana, an umbrella organisation incorporating various Hindu organisations said Jayam Pandi is not connected with any of the Sangh Parivar outfits. “There is no Hindu Illaignar Sena among the Sangh Parivar organisations.
