Prayagraj: The confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati at Sangam has become a beacon of faith during the ongoing Maha Kumbh, drawing so far over 11 crore devotees from across the globe. The belief that a holy dip at this sacred site cleanses sins and fulfills heartfelt wishes has made it a spiritual destination like no other.
Pilgrims like Prahlad Pathak from Bahraich have returned to express gratitude. "During the last Kumbh, I prayed for my son to secure a job, and my wish was granted. I've come back to thank Ganga Maiya," he said. Similarly, Pinky Devi from Kanpur shared her joy: "I prayed for a son and family peace. Both prayers were answered, and I am here with my family to offer gratitude."
At Sangam, wishes range from health and prosperity to spiritual salvation. Sunita from Delhi, who walked barefoot with her elderly mother-in-law, explained, "My mother-in-law's vow was fulfilled, and despite her age and difficulty walking, we came to offer thanks because Ganga Maiya listens to prayers."
While many openly share their stories of fulfilled wishes, others keep their vows private, believing that speaking about them might diminish their effect. Regardless, every dip taken at the Sangam is steeped in hope, gratitude, and devotion.
For some, the visit is about experiencing faith itself. Nisha Chaudhary from Jharkhand reflected, "I prayed for my family's success and for my children to honor our family through their efforts. Being here has shown me the true power of devotion."
This Maha Kumbh, which occurs only once every 144 years, has transformed Prayagraj into a hub of spirituality, where millions gather to bathe in the sacred waters, renew their faith, and trust in the divine to fulfill their deepest desires.
