In an apparent disregard for the laid down rules and norms, Bollywood star Salman Khan on Thursday failed to turn up before the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) for the third time for a hearing over his "felt like a raped woman" remark, but sent a letter to the Commission reiterating stand on the issue.
With no shift in his stand that he had taken ahead of his earlier scheduled hearings on June 29 and July 7, which he had skipped citing "potential" double jeopardy in view of a similar case pending before the National Commission for Women (NCW), Salman chose not to make a personal appearance before the MSCW at 4.30 pm. He, however, sent a letter to the MSCW, reiterating his stand on why he was staying away from its hearings.
Confirming that Salman had failed to appear for the third time, MSCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said, "We have received a letter from the actor. We are studying it now. We have sent it to our legal department and will decide the future course of action."
The contents of Salman's letter were not immediately known.
Unlike on the previous two occasions when the MSCW had served fresh summons on Salman after he failed to turn before it for a scheduled hearing, the Commission had till the evening not issued fresh summons to the actor.
