Salman 'ready' to fight Govt in SC

The Bombay High Court may have acquitted him of all the charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case, but the case was still weighing on his mind, as he celebrated his 50th birthday on Sunday at his family farmhouse at Panvel in Raigad district. The actor said he would fight it out legally when the Maharashtra Government challenges his acquittal in the Supreme Court.

less than a week after the Maharashtra Government informed the High Court that it would file a Special leave Petition (SlP) against its December 10, 2015 order, acquitting him of all the charges, Salman said that he was mentally prepared to fight out the case in the apex court.

Talking to mediapersons outside his farmhouse at Panvel where he hosted a grand party for his family and friend on Saturday on the occasion of his birth day, Salman said, “Zindagi ladne ka naam hai (life is all about fighting)...It’s a huge burden off my parents’ shoulders ( that the high court has acquitted him of all the charges in the

hit-and-run case).. ...It is the Government’s right to appeal in the Supreme Court. We too will fight it in the Supreme Court”.

It may be recalled that on December 23, 2015, Government Pleader Abhinandan Vagyani had told a HC bench of Justices Abhay Oka and Gautam Patel that the State Government would file an SlP in the apex court against the verdict delivered by the high court on December 10, 2015.
