In a crucial piece of evidence that might make matters difficult for Salman Khan in the ongoing re-trial in the 2002 hit-and-run case, an officer at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) testified before a sessions court here on Monday that the actor did not possess a driving licence at the time of the much-discussed incident.

An assistant inspector at RTO, who is a prosecution witness in the case, told the court that the question of Salman possessing the driving licence at the time of incident did not arise, since the actor obtained licence from the RTO in 2004. During his deposition before Sessions Judge D W Deshpande, the witness produced the records of the actor's driving licence. Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat examined the records produced by the witness.

Another witness who is a police sub-inspector informed the court that he had accompanied the actor to the state-run JJ hospital for blood test. He said that he took the actor to doctor Shashikant Pawar for the blood test, so as to ascertain if he had consumed alcohol.
