BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on Tuesday denied having received the show-cause notice served on him by the BJP but party spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain stated that the former has been asked to explain his controversial remarks that a Hindu woman should give birth to at least four children.
According to BJP sources, the show-cause notice has asked the MP to respond within 10 days to why he made the controversial statements despite instructions from the party to not to do so.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself understood to have conveyed in the last Parliamentary Party meeting that motor mouths and those not toeing party line may face disciplinary action.
“Maharaj has indeed been asked to explain his controversial remarks that a Hindu woman should give birth to at least four children,” BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said at Patna.
He asked all party leaders to refrain from making contentious statements which could provide a handle to the Opposition to attack the NDA Government.
The BJP MP, however, remained defiant saying he had not received any notice from the party. “I will talk to my party, not to you,” he told reporters here.
The parliamentarian from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, who was served the notice by the BJP on Monday, denied receiving any notice. “I am not aware of any notice. I have not got any notice,” he said.
