Rupani Govt appoints 57 directors in 18 board, corporations

Ahead of the assembly polls, Vijay Rupani government in Gujarat appointed 57 directors including chairmen in 18 different State owned board and corporations on Monday. Sources close to the development said that caste and regional balance was made to appoint new directors.

The most important appointment was Balawantsinh Rajput, who fought the keenly contested Rajya Sabha elections in August this year and lost by a vote against Congress leader Ahmed Patel.

Rajput had left Congress party and joined BJP few days ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls. He is also relative of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela who is trying hard to form third front in the poll bound State.
