The ongoing tussle and differences in Bihar Congress took an ugly turn on Monday when party men came to blows on the premises of party headquarters Sadaqat Ashram and slogans of Narendra Modi zindabad and Nitish Kumar zindabad were raised by unknown people. A couple of party workers were seen in torn kurta blaming others for violence and unruly behaviour.
A meeting of the party’s newly elected delegates had been called on Monday by the acting State president Kaukab Quadri.
But only a few of the 33 lawmakers showed up. AICC general secretary and Bihar in-charge CP Joshi and secretary Kl Sharma were scheduled to attend the meeting but they too failed to turn up.
Tension gripped the venue when ousted PCC president Ashok Chaudhary arrived with some of his supporters and sat on the ground in the hall instead of taking his place on the dais. It is alleged that he instigated his supporters to disrupt the meeting.
“Some party men who held high posts were instigating for disturbance,” alleged Quadri and said a five-member inquiry committee has been set under former MlA Jyoti Kumari to probe the ugly incident and on the basis of its findings action would be taken. Chaudhary, who was also Education Minister in the Mahagathbandhan Government, cried foul when the authentic list of the 580 delegates was not released and his men created ruckus inside and outside the party headquarters.
