Giving a miss to some of ‘the mythological claims’ on the scientific achievements, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, an RSS outfit, appears to be working to establish ‘a genuine connect’ between ancient India’s authentic scientific advancements and the modern research and development.
Towards this goal, a three-day international conference on developing tools of ‘alternative research’ that would richly draw from ancient progress in Mathematics (Vedic Maths), metallurgical sciences, environment, communication, agriculture, herbal medicines, ‘Yoga’, and other fields would be held at Nagpur from February 11 to February 13.
Discussing over hundred research papers, the forum would ‘provide opportunity’ to researchers of national and international level to interact with each other as also with the Central Ministers — including HRD Minister Smiriti Irani, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar — who would be attending the conference. Maharashtra
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is to inaugurate the research meet.
“We will give mythological history a miss and focus on the actual progress made in sciences with a focus on how they could actually be used for the public good,” said BSM national joint secretary Mukul Kanitkar. The researcher’s workshop would orient the outlook towards “indigenous treasure of knowledge” and develop “alternative ways of research.”
“Research is not mere degree, it is a life style, solution to needs and problems in the society,” said the organisers of the conference, adding “so far it has been restricted to a few people”.
Detailing the theme of the meet at Nagpur, the BSM claimed that it was aimed “to initiate a paradigm shift” in “research orientation” so as to make it indigenous, holistic, integrated and meaningful.
BMS is organising the conference in collaboration with five universities — including Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), a central university, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PKDV), Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU) and Gondwana University, Gadchiroli (GUG).
The presentations or papers on innovative research methodologies would be made on subjects like organic living (environment), structure, method, content and governance (education), development issues, governance, management and finance (economics) and ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ (civilization harmony).
“An exhibition at the venue will provide a platform to premiere research institutes for presenting their research with a view to establishing connection between ‘lab to land,” said Dr Vshram Jamdar, Chairman, Board of Governors, VNIT, the co-host of the conference.
According to BSM, some of the foreign participants and speakers at the conference include Dr Guna Magesan (New Zealnad), Suhas Gopinath (USA), Dr Kaviraj Harishankar Sharma (Osaka, Japan), Dr Anand Paranjape (Canada), Ramesh Kallidai (UK) and Dr Manohar Shinde (USA).
