The Gujarat Government will pay Rs4 lakh to families of deceased who were killed during violence that erupted after Maha Kranti Rally on August 25. The decision was taken following a submission before the Gujarat High Court on Thursday. The State Government will also pay Rs2 lakh to those who became permanently disabled and Rs10,000 ex-gratia to people with injuries. The Advocate General said in the court of Chief Justice Jayant Patel and justice NV Anjaria that the State would provide ex-gratia to only those who killed or injured in police firing. On this, court directed that it must be extended to all and not just those killed and injured in police firing.
