Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Monday after tributes were payed to sitting BJD member Kalpataru Das and former members RS Gavai and BK Handique.
Both Das and Gavai passed away on July 25. Das (65) breathed his last after a prolonged battle with cancer. Gavai (86) had served as Governor of Bihar and Kerala. Handique (81) passed away in Guwahati on Sunday. After the obituary references, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the House for the day, as part of a practice whenever a sitting member passes away.
