Even as one month after the announcement of demonetisation was made, the people of Andhra Pradesh are reeling under its impact. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has advised the farmers to purchase the pesticides and fertilisers online through digital transaction.
At a review meeting with the top officials and the bankers, Naidu hoped that the situation will soon improve as the State was to receive Rs 1,100 crore currency. He also announced an incentive of Rs 50 to officials for teaching the cashless transaction to one person.
To help the people in such transactions, 20 Point Program committee chairman Sai Baba suggested the appointment of Business Correspondents on the bus stations and railway stations in the State. The Chief Minister supported the idea and asked the officials to implement it.
Chief Secretary Sumita Dawra said that there was a need for imparting training of cashless training to 20 lakh students and 20 lakh families in the State.
Syndicate Bank officials announced that they were adopting some villages in the State to teach the people cashless transactions. They informed the Chief Minister that the bank had opened 8,000 Current Accounts since the banning of the big currency notes.
Krishna Rao, the deputy general manager of Andhra Bank said that the bank was making arrangements of training 1,000 people in Nuzividu town of Krishna district.
Meanwhile the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided the head post office of Kandukuru in Prakasham district and Andhra Bank branch in Pamarru in Krishna district after allegations of irregularities in the exchange of old currency with the new notes.
The CBI team collected the details of all those who had opened new accounts and made big deposits at both the places. They also gathered the details of the people who exchanged the old notes since November 8.
