Rs 25 crore ransom: Nitish orders probe
After the name of an alleged ruling party politician hit headlines in connection with kidnapping case of Surat-based businessman’s son, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday asked the State police chief to probe the case personally. The Surat-based businessman had reportedly paid Rs 25 crore to the abductors allegedly at an influential politician’s house for his son’s release.
For the last three days reports have been coming up in local media that a politician was involved in the high-profile kidnapping case but later it’s being said that the politician was from ruling party with access to corridors of power.
“Now, after going through these reports, I’ve asked the State police chief to investigate the allegations and the case personally and do not spare whoever involved into it,” said Nitish on Thursday. He also said that those who have been making allegations should have also named the politician so that everything would become transparent.
“I am also curious to know who this politician is…Chahe kitna bhi bada aadmi kyon na ho, jaanch ke baad nayay-sangat karyawahi honi chahiye,” he told the mediapersons.
Sohel Hingora was kidnapped from Daman and taken to Nayagoan in Chhapra district of Bihar where he was kept handcuffed for a month. He was later released after paying huge ransom of Rs 25 crore to the abductors, claimed Hanif Hingora, father of the kidnapped youth. Hanif Hingore is a textile tycoon and owners of over a dozen companies.
The Bihar police, however, admitted that Rs 9 crore was paid to the abductors but Hanif Hingore claimed that he paid Rs 25 crore. “I was taken to about 40 different places before the payment was made at an influential politician’s house in Patna. It was an inter-state gang patronised by politicians and police of the State,” he further charged while talking to mediapersons in Surat two days back.
