The ‘National Adaptation Fund’ will be set up to tackle the problem of climate change. The Budget is to set aside an initial sum of Rs 100 crore for the fund. The Budget is also to create a ‘Price Stabilisation Fund’ with an outlay of Rs 500 crore to mitigate the volatility of price in the agriculture produce, as a result of impact of climate change which creates uncertainties and hardship for farmers.
The interest of farmers and consumers will also be served by increasing competition and integrating markets across the country.
In a bid to accelerate establishing of a National Market, the Centre will work closely with the State Governments to reorient their respective Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Acts, that provides for establishment of private market yards/private markets. The State Governments will also be encouraged to develop markets of farmers in the towns to enable them to sell their produce directly.
