A year after he made headlines for making a full-fledged aircraft on the terrace of his Mumbai suburb residence, commercial pilot Capt. Amol Yadav on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government for a staggering Rs 35,000 crore project to set up a unit to manufacture 20-seater aircraft at Palghar in Maharashtra.
The ambitious MoU agreement was inked between Capt Yadav’s company and the Maharashtra government in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the ongoing ‘Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018’ global investors’ conclave, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Under the MoU, Capt Yadav’s firm will be allotted 155 acres of land at Palghar, located 100 km north of Mumbai, to set up the mini aircraft manufacturing unit, as part of the ‘Make In India’ initiative.
Capt Yadav has arrived on the state’s scene less than three months after Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) registered his home-built small six-seater aircraft, which he had built over six years on the terrace of his building at Kandivali in north Mumbai since 2011.
It may be recalled that Yadav (42) had displayed the aircraft during the ‘Make In India’ exhibition in Mumbai in February last year.
