The Modi Government is in the process of approving road projects worth Rs11,000 crore for extremist-hit States. Minister for Road and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that he plans to rope in military engineering services for faster building of roads in these areas.
“We are committed to fast-track infrastructure building. Military engineering services will be roped into building roads in extremist-hit areas for faster construction in lesser time,” said Nitin Gadkari who was speaking at the Inauguration of the exhibition on ‘Adoption of innovative technologies and materials for road construction in India’ organised by Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE) in Noida on Friday.
“The Ministry will soon approve projects worth Rs11,000 crore for these Maoist-hit States,” he said.
He said law and order compounded with other problems had stalled projects in such areas as last year projects worth Rs1,500 crore could not be taken up there out of sanctioned Rs6,000 crore.
