A woman railway official and her techie son were found dead under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday afternoon at their residence in Ghaziabad. Police turned up on the spot after some local residents felt foul smell emanating from the house and informed them. The bodies were recovered by breaking open the gate, said police, adding that the mother and son had slit their wrists.

“The bodies have been seized and the forensic team has collected the evidence. Prima facie, it seems a case of suicide. But the final outcome could only be revealed after the investigation,” said Ajay Pal, the SP City Ghaziabad.

Police said Arvind Gill, who works as a private secretary to a senior officer in Railway Board, was living with her son in their Rail Vihar residence. Her husband Harmeet Gill, who works with a private construction company, claimed that the mother and son had deserted him about two years ago. The son — an IIT-Rourkee graduation student — was reported to be under depression.
