Union Home Secretary RK Singh accepted that there were faults in the intelligence that led to Darbha massacre. He said the State will be supplied with more force and latest weapons to handle the Naxal menace in Chhattisgarh.

RK Singh was talking with mediapersons after holding a meeting with Director General of Police Ram Niwas, Chief Secretary, head of Intelligence Bureau Asif Ibrahim, DG CRPF Pranay Sahay and others at police headquarters on Tuesday.

Talking with reporters after the meeting he said anti-Naxal operations will be intensified with more security forces and modern weapons that would be provided to Chhattisgarh Government. He further said, “We will coordinate with Naxal-hit States adjoining Chhattisgarh and a joint operation would be conducted.”

He further said Maoists were on back foot due to anti-Naxal operations being conducted in Bastar for past three years and further anti-Naxal operations region would be intensified in the Naxal infested regions.

The Union Home Secretary is in the State to hold a review the situation in connection with the Saturday’s Naxal attack on Congress leaders.

To a query about the Press release issued by Naxals in which they have regretted killing of some innocent people, Singh said, “Yes, they were not on their hit-list of Naxals, inspite of this they were shot dead.” To another question over the reasons that led to such a massacre he said a judicial inquiry has been ordered by the State and NIA is also probing the attack. He also told reports that army would not be engaged in anti-Naxal operations.

Twenty seven people including PCC chief Nand Kumar Patel, his son Dinesh, Congress leader Mahendra Karma were killed and 32 others, including former Union Minister V C Shukla, were injured in Saturday's Naxal attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
