RJD MlA leaves Nitish red-faced

RJD MlA leaves Nitish red-faced

Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faced some embarrassing moments at a function when an RJD MlA started shouting to register his protest over missing of his name in the plaque erected to mark the foundation-laying ceremony of a national institute at Bihta in Patna district on Wednesday.

Bhai Birendra, RJD MlA from Maner lost his cool when he found his name missing in the plaque, erected to mark the foundation-laying function of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIEIT) at Bihta in Patna district.

The RJD MlA charged the State Government with violating the protocol and also the established precedents. “How an elected representative can be ignored by the State Government in such a manner and that too under the regime of Sushashan Babu,” he remarked while taking a dig at the CM.

He said that it was not for the first time that he had become the victim of humiliation meted out by the State Government but he was ill-treated on an earlier occasion too. Incidentally, that function was also attended by Kapil Sibal.

The RJD MlA said that the Government is not only insulting him but also humiliating the people of his constituency. The frayed tempers of the RJD MlA could not be assuaged even after the instant intervention of Sibal and Kumar as he again lambasted the State Government for disrespecting the Opposition party MlAs when the RJD legislator was given a chance to speak at the function. Sibal also tried to convince Bhai Virendra that it might be an unintended mistake on the part of the State Government and he should not make it an issue.

Earlier, the growing bonhomie between Kumar and Sibal was remarkably evident at the function when both Sibal and the CM showered praise on each other.

When Kumar had last visited Patna in connection with an IIT function, both Sibal and Kumar were engaged in exchange of barbs though both of them took full care that the dignity of the occasion was maintained.

Though other senior Congress leaders including Manmohan Singh have already showered their full praise on Nitish Kumar by calling him a secular leader and a good human being after he snapped the JD(U)’s ties with the BJP, Sibal went one step further in eulogising the Chief Minister as he described him as his elder brother in the political arena.

In an oblique reference to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Sibal said that some people consider themselves as heroes but presume others as zeroes.
