Yoga guru Ramdev on Sunday advised the people of Haryana to rise above caste and stay united. “Haryana is known for its tales of valour and people must remain united to create a harmonious atmosphere. All problems are solved when peace and harmony is there,” said Ramdev, who was part of a ‘Sadbhavana Sammelan’ oragnised in the backdrop of recent series of agitations in the State.
Amid the ongoing row over ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan, Ramdev said, “chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ was an affirmation of citizens’ faith in their country, their motherland.”
Film actor Randeep Hooda and various sportspersons including wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt also voiced their concern over the communal tension in the State.
“People keep talking about 35 or 36 or 48 ‘biradaris’ (communities), but we are all one. We need each other at every step,” the actor said.
The speakers at the ‘Sadbhavana Sammelan’ also included Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, Jain Muni Tarun Sagar, former cricketer Chetan Sharma, wrestler Sangram Singh, chess player Anuradha Beniwal.
Haryana’s child prodigy Kautilya Pandit was also present in the event.
The Sammelan was organised under the aegis of an organisation ‘Samajik Samrasta Manch’ in Rohtak, which had been the epicentre of the recent incidents of violence during the Jat stir for caste-based quota.
Chess-player Anuradha Beniwal also advised people to remain united and keep brotherhood intact.
Beniwal, who hails from this district, had over a month ago posted a video requesting agitators in Haryana to pause and think before burning state property in demand for reservation, reasoning that they were causing their own loss.
In her address on Sunday, she even put the organisers in a tight spot when she posed some pointed questions about the role of the administration, present and former MPs, MlAs during the recent incidents of arson, loot and violence witnessed during the Jat stir.
“What efforts did they make to stop the unrestIJ,” she asked them.
