The feud in the Samajwadi Party involving the uncle Shivpal Yadav and his nephew Akhilesh Yadav is likely to be intensified. Both are not in talking terms for the last several months.
Mulayam Singh Yadav has invited the newly elected MlAs for the political discussions followed by the dinner. Samajwadi Party sources said that the dinner meeting at the residence of Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday is the brain child of Shivpal Yadav. The move has the blessings of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
SP sources said Shivpal Yadav is down but not out.
The dinner meeting at the residence of Mulayam Singh has been called to demonstrate the clout of Mulayam Singh Yadav which will be interpreted as the influence of Shivpal Yadav on the newly elected MlAs.
Sources said barring the few old guards who have been elected to assembly are likely to attend the dinner meeting while majority of the MlAs are likely to stay away.
A day early on Tuesday Akhilesh Yadav has called the meeting of the MlAs and the MlCs at the party office at 9 am. The name of the leader of opposition, deputy leader of the party and chief whip is likely to be declared in the meeting on Tuesday. Akhilesh Yadav will also have to take the call on the leader of opposition in UP legislative Council. For the last five years Ahmed Hasan was the party leader in the upper house. Since Akhilesh Yadav is MlC he is likely to take over the leader of the party in the upper house and elevated as the leader of opposition.
It’s going to be a difficult choice for Akhilesh Yadav to take over as the leader of opposition in the upper house of the UP legislature for two reasons. First he will have to displace a muslim and the other is the Chairman of the UP legislative council Ramesh Yadav, whom SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav had announced during the election that he will be removed from the office of the chairman of the legislative council..
Ashish Yadav, MlA from Etah in previous assembly is the son of Ramesh Yadav. He had rebelled against the Akhilesh Yadav faction of the party during the height of the feud in the party last year. He had levelled serious charges of corruption against the party Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav. He was not only expelled from the party was also denied the ticket. He contested the elected as Rashtriya lok Dal ticket and lost the election. He however made the task easy for the BJP as it candidate Vipin Kumar David won the seat.
If Akhilesh Yadav decided to be the leader of opposition in council then he will have to take the difficult decision of moving the resolution for removing the chairman. The SP can get the resolution adopted as it has clear majority in the upper house. Ramesh Yadav is from the old guard and confident of MUlayam Singh Yadav, who groomed Ramesh Yadav in last three decades.
