Rewrite history textbooks to highlight golden era of Dogra rulers: PDP MlC

Published on:

Grandson of Mahajara Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir, and sitting Peoples Democratic Party MlC Vikramaditya Singh wants BJP-PDP alliance Government to urgently set right the historical perspective on Dogra rulers by rewriting history text books to highlight the golden era of Dogra rulers of the State.

“It is criminal to hide such information from our youth and brain wash them in to believing  otherwise. I will like you to take appropriate measures to begin imparting true knowledge to the young and impressionable minds who are going to be the future of tomorrow”, Vikramaditya recently wrote to State Education Minister.

In his letter dated August 22, 2017, Vikramaditya has also informed sitting Education Minister Altaf Ahmad Bukhari, I had previously written a similar letter to your predecessor Naeem Akhar on February 1, 2017 requesting him to include period pertaining to Dogra rule in school text  books.

Sharing his feedback with the senior Cabinet Minister belonging to his own party Vikramaditya further wrote “So far I have not received any reply from former Education Minister nor from the department. I am sure you will appreciate that these are serious and sensitive matters on which the Government must be seen as taking action”.

In his previous letter Vikramaditya had also suggested to the Education Minister to include chapters of the Dogra rulers starting with Maharaja Gulab Singh, founder of J&K State and ending with Maharaja Hari Singh.

Singh had also highlighted the fact that there was only tertiary mention of the golden era of Dogra rule in our school text books. He said it is very unfortunate that a deliberate attempt has been made to sideline Dogra history. Singh had suggested to the State Education Minister to allow the children to form their own impressions. They have the right to be presented with the correct historical perspective, he added while urging the sitting education minister to take appropriate measures to begin imparting true knowledge to the young children in the State.
