The friends and colleagues of the Russian youth missing since the accident in Uttarkashi on June 10 that killed two Russian tourists and injured about a dozen, are still hoping for a miracle. The friends and colleagues of 28-year old Alexander Prokopev have announced a reward of Rs50,000 for anyone providing information leading to him. The Russians also plan to reach the accident site in Uttarkashi on Thursday as part of their efforts to search for Prokopev.

According to Prokop’ev’s colleague Anna Jha, the missing Russian only knows his mother tongue and some English and is ignorant of Hindi. “We are hoping that by some miracle he might have come out of the river alive and might have been sheltered by someone in the region. We have announced a reward of Rs50,000 to anyone who provides information leading to him. Our group plans to reach Rishikesh on Tuesday and then Uttarkashi on Thursday where we will distribute pamphlets displaying his photo and our appeal for information leading to him. I had also talked to the Uttarkashi district magistrate Sridhar Babu who informed me that the police were still looking for Alexander’s body but had not found it yet. I hope to receive cooperation from the authorities in our search for him,” she said.

It is pertinent to mention here that a group of about a dozen Russian nationals were returning from Gangotri on June 10 when the bus they were travelling in fell off the road into the river leading to  Alexander Klyushkin and Rimma Mischuk’s death while Alexander Prokop’ev has been missing since then. The other Russians and the bus driver left after being treated for their injuries.

On the day he went missing, Prokop’ev was wearing a white coloured T-shirt and light grey coloured trousers. He is about 180 cms tall and weighs about 72 kgs. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Alexander can contact on telephone numbers 011-400 48888 and 09818545470.
