A retired professor of Allahabad University (AU) fell prey to fraudsters and was deprived of `1.5 crore. He came to know about the fraud when his bank account was put on hold. An FIR against nine persons has been lodged with the Colonelganj police. Retired Professor Jagdish Narayan Purvar, now 71, was approached by some persons from Delhi who introduced themselves as attached to the Finance Ministry. They won the confidence of the professor who invested `1.5 crore on their advice. After this a fraud took place in Gujarat and an FIR was lodged in this connection, following which the account of the professor in State Bank of India University branch was put on hold. When Purvar contacted the bank officials, he was told that an FIR had been lodged against the company in which he had invested, so his account was put on hold. Smelling something fishy, when the professor asked the above persons to pay back his money, they switched off the number. Prof Purvar has lodged FIR against Pankaj Kapoor, Pankaj Bhadoria, Rajiv Dixit, Puja Lamba, Vikas Kumar and four others.
