Religious conversion must stop: Naidu

Former BJP Chief M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said religious conversion was a major concern for India, as it was disturbing the social equilibrium and creating distress among communities.

“West is spending huge amount of money to encourage conversions in India, which has to be stopped. Conversions are to be stopped at any cost because we should not forget that our country has already been once divided on the basis of religion,” Naidu said at the concluding ceremony of Swamy Vivekananda 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations at london.

Describing light of spirituality as India’s biggest gift to the world, Naidu said entire world looks towards India. “Unfortunately some of our leaders and people always look towards the west as they are not able to come up from their slavery mentality,” he added.

He claimed Hinduism was not a “narrow religious concept” but cultural identity of India, about which Indians should be proud of.Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev appealed to the NRIs to be loyal to the country they were living in, without forgetting dharma, roots, values and ethos of the land they born in.

He praised Naidu and the service activity being carried through Swarna Bharat Trust in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
