'Rehabilitate in UP people displaced from Kairana'

In an attempt to make Kairana a political issue, the BJP has demanded the rehabilitation of the people who left this region because of various reasons in the last couple of years and wanted to return.

"The nine-member committee that visited Kairana found several heart-wrenching instances after talking to people there. The party will move a proposal for rehabilitation of the people who had to leave their native place and now wanted to return," State BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya told media persons in lucknow on Wednesday.

Without elaborating on the findings of the probe team, Maurya said that the situation at Kairana was very alarming. "We will make the report public on June 17," declared the BJP leader.

Maurya said that the locals in Kairana and Kandhla have exposed the claims of UP Government that there was peace and tranquility in the area. "Frustration in ruling party is palpable, as now the Chief Minister is targeting the media for showing Kairana issue in its prime time bulletins," said the State BJP chief.

Earlier, the nine-member BJP team led by legislature Party leader Suresh Khanna had gone to Kairana to investigate the charges of BJP MP Hukum Singh on the exodus of 346 families from Kairana and 63 families from Kandhla in Shamli district.

Maurya also criticised BSP chief Mayawati for her double speak. Mayawati is giving contradictory statements. On one hand, she is demanding a CBI probe into the Mathura violence, on the other, she is alleging that the CBI was being misused by the Centre," Maurya said.

Meanwhile, senior BSP leader and two time lucknow district panchayat chairperson Pushpa Rawat joined the BJP in the presence of Keshav Prasad Maurya. Along with Rawat, several of her supporters including dozens of pradhans of rural lucknow too joined the BJP.

Earlier, UP BJP accorded a warm welcome to party's national vice-president and in-charge of UP, Om Mathur on his first visit to lucknow after being elected as Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan.

The State BJP chief also lauded the success of the two-day national executive meeting held at Allahabad on June 12-13 and claimed that it has given a road map for Mission 2017 in UP.
