Redress people's problem at earliest or face action, Yogi tells officials

Facing Opposition barbs over lax administration, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to redress people’s problems at the earliest or face action.

“This is high time that officials started delivering results. People’s problems should be resolved at the district level itself. But it is painful to know that people are forced to travel to lucknow and to complain with the Chief Minister. This should end. Their problems should be resolved at the block and Tehsil levels itself. If officers were not willing to work, they should pave way for others,” Yogi said at a meeting with senior officials in lucknow on Friday.

The CM said that officials of all ranks from Commissioners, District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police to BDOs should regularly meet people between 9 and 11 am at their offices and resolve the problems there an then.

“Procrastination will not be tolerated any more. There should not be any pendency of work,” Yogi said.

Chief Minister also directed officials to carry out inspections of Samadhan Diwas held at tehsils. “This Government is committed to solving people’s problems at the earliest and therefore officials will have to work diligently,” he said and added that officials should have direct communication with people and for this they should take help of social media.

A suggestion was given that departments should have separate toll free numbers so that people could register their complaints. “Registering complaints is one thing and redressing them another. Ensure that complaints from every quarter be resolved. Make mega call centres operational so that this system could work efficiently,” Yogi said.

The CM also asked officials to distribute free school dress, shoes, socks and books among students at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, Additional Chief Secretary (IT) Sanjeev Saran, Principal Secretary, Information, Avnish Awasthi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, SP Goyal, Secretary to Chief Minister MK Narain, Director, Information, Atul Kumar Jha and Special Secretary to CM, Dr Dr Adarsh Singh.
