Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has written to the State Governments urging them to issue suitable directives to various departments under their commands to redress the grievances of the defence and paramilitary forces’ personnel and ex-servicemen swiftly.
Singh also urged the State Governments to issue necessary directives to various departments to show affection and respect to the forces’ personnel when they or their family members visit their offices for any Government-related issues so that they can discharge their duties with more zeal in difficult areas.
In his letter, Singh said the personnel of the armed forces are always ready to serve the nation without even caring for their lives and he has himself been witness to the difficult areas in which they render the service. The personnel of the armed forces are posted thousands of kilometers away from their homes and are posted difficult terrains and torturous weather conditions for cause of the nation. In this backdrop, it becomes our duty to properly take care of such personnel and their families. Such personnel are able to visit their hometowns for a very limited period to attend to domestic issues. Many of them need to visit offices of the State Government department at various levels.
“Through this letter, I expect cooperation from you to issue necessary directions all the related departments expeditiously resolve the pending administrative issues of the jawans with commitment and respect,” the Minister said in his recent letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Similar letters have been sent to other States.
Singh further urged the State Governments that whenever a armed forces’ personnel visit Government offices, the officers of the State Government departments should ensure that the jawans are accorded respect and affection as also ensure resolution of their pleas at the earliest. Such courtesies will not only ensure that they are free from their domestic issues and perform their duties but they will be able to perform with more zeal, he added.
