Reddy back in news for tech-savvy invite for daughter's wedding

After a gap of nearly four years mining baron and former Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy is back in the news.

Reddy, known for his opulent lifestyle replete with helicopters, a fleet of cars and of course a gold chair, is now hogging headlines by sending a unique wedding card of his daughter’s marriage which will be held in November.

The wedding card, a box containing a small lCD screen opens to a filmy-style Kannada song where Reddy and his wife invite the guests to the marriage.

The  lCD screen will play a Kannada song Atithi Devobhava (guest is like God)  featuring Janardhan Reddy, his wife and son.

The bride Bramhani is introduced like any actress of a Bollywood movie. She is seen swirling her ‘lehenga’ and running in slow motion. On the other hand, the groom is seen with white stallions in the background.

The one-minute video also announces the date and venue of the big fat wedding.

It concludes with the close-up shot of the Reddy family. The well-made one minute HD video adds to his style and the invitation itself has become the talk of the town.

The rags-to-riches story of 49-year-old Janardhan Reddy is amazing. He controlled the iron ore rich Bellary in Karnataka for over a decade. After former lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde exposed his illegal mining deeds he was jailed and is now out on bail.  Reddy was arrested by the CBI in 2011 in connection with illegal mining. He was in jail for three years, after which he was released on conditional bail in 2015.
