A research scholar of Jawahar lal Nehru University (JNU), who was under police custody for allegedly raping his 13-year-old sister-in-law, on Sunday created a ruckus and injured himself in the lock up.
The 25-year-old accused was arrested on Saturday after a case was registered against him at Vasant Vihar police station.“He rubbed his private part against the lock up wall. He made huge hue and cry, shouting and breaking down several times following which he was taken to a hospital,” said a senior police official.
He was discharged from the hospital after treatment, police said. Police said that they have been informed by doctors that this was the second time the victim got pregnant.
She got pregnant a year ago as well but the pregnancy was aborted. The minor girl had become pregnant after allegedly being raped repeatedly by her brother-in-law, a resident of South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area, police said.
