A hectic schedule awaits Narendra Modi when he arrives in Telangana on Sunday on his maiden visit to the State after becoming the Prime Minister more than two years ago.

While Chief Minister Rao is trying to make the best out of the PM’s visit by getting several major projects inaugurating by Modi, the BJP is also leaving no stone unturned to use the

occasion to reinvigorate its cadre and has organised a meeting of party workers that will be addressed by Narendra Modi in Hyderabad. Brisk preparations are on in Gajwel town of Medak district where Modi will be

formally launching the ambitious Mission Bhagirath of Telangana Government aimed at supplying piped drinking water to each and every household of the State.

Modi will also address a public meeting at Gajwel, the constituency represented by the Chief Minister. It will also be the venue for launching of all other projects as the PMwill not go to any other place except Hyderabad.  Modi’s program includes laying foundation stone for the two power projects of National Thermal Power Corporation of 1,600 MW and a fertiliser plant at Ramagundam town of Karimnagar district and dedicate two thermal power plants of Singareni Collieries if 1,200 MW at Jeypur in Adilabad.

He will also lay a foundation stone for the Kaloji Narayana Rao Health University at Warangal and Kotthapally-Manoharabad railway line In Medak district.

The first phase of Mission Bhagirath will cover all the villages in nine assembly constituencies.

The NTPC power plants are part of the 4,000 MW power project promised to Telangana as part of the State Reorganisation act to help the State tide over the power shortage.

The State machinery was fully geared upto make fool proof security and other arrangements at Gajwel and a helipad was also built to enable the landing of choppers of PM and his entourage.

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma along with other senior officials visited Gajwel to review the arrangements. In view of the incessant rains the administration is erecting water proof tents for the PM’s public meeting.

The Chief Minister is also preparing a detailed representation to be submitted to PM seeking central

assistance and clearance for various infrastructure projects  in varied sectors of railways, aviation, energy and information technology.

During his last visit to New Delhi, CM had submitted a memorandum seeking assistance of Rs 30,000 crore for Mission Bhagirath and Mission Kakatiya to repair and restore the irrigation tanks in the State.

The State also eyes the much delayed funds for the IT Investment Region Project which was cleared by the Centre. According to the official sources, CM expects a favourable announcement by Modi on all these requests.

The Prime Minister is coming to Telangana at a time when his party is still struggling to find its feet after a string of electoral setbacks in the State.

Following the road map set by the party president Amit Shah to bring the BJP to power in the State in 2019, the State leadership has started adopting aggressive postures and

targeting KCR Government with the charges of corruption, inefficiency and harassment of farmers in the same Gajwel constituency for land acquisition.

In a bid to strengthen and mobilise the organisation,  Modi will be addressing the BJP cadre from all over the State at lal Bahadur Stadium

in Hyderabad. He is expected to highlight the fact that the Center had liberally helped Telangana for various development schemes and projects.

BJP general secretary P Murlidhar Rao said that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 45,000 crore for infrastructure development in Telangana but the State Government was not using it properly.

Underlining the significance of PM’s visit he said, “it is also aimed at strengthening the party in the State”.

Party cadre were in high spirits as Modi’s visit will be followed by BJP president Amit Shah's visit to participate in Hyderabad liberation Day on September 17.
