Ranjan Yadav quits JD(U) protesting alliance with lalu

Published on:

Senior politician and former Pataliputra MP Ranjan Prasad Yadav has resigned from the JD(U). He sent in his resignation letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Yadav, a sworn enemy of RJD supremo lalu Prasad, was upset over JD(U)'s decision to join hands with RJD.

Ranjan, who has credit of defeating lalu from Pataliputra in 2009 but lost that seat to Ram Kripal Yadav of BJP in 2014, had already made it clear that it would not be possible for him to stay in the party which has any link with lalu. He accused both Nitish and lalu of stifling the inner democracy in their respective parties. He said, "The JD(U)'s decision to join hands with lalu is not acceptable to me. The tie up has been forced on the party ignoring the popular views of the leaders and cadres of JD(U) by Nitish to meet his political ends.
