Swabhiman Yatra to garner support for Modi
With “half-Italian blood” barb against Congress’ probable prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev seems to be hitting the Congress where it is likely to hurt most.
The yoga guru who has been on the Congress’ radar from quite some time minced no words to corner the Congress and the Gandhi scion here on Wednesday at a Kite Festival organised at Argora ground by NaMo Mantra.
“He (Rahul) says that the Congress’ DNA is present in India’s blood. However, he is not aware that the blood flowing in his veins is half-Italian,” said Ramdev.
Ramdev during his stay in the State capital urged the people of the State to vote cohesively for a competent and stable government at the centre.
Significantly, at a Press conference at Chamber Bhawan the Yoga guru elicited Modi-centric plans that will be a part of Swabhiman Yatra which is likely to begin from March 23.
The Yatra will focus on door-to-door campaign for Modi — “Vote for nation, vote for Modi” — on March 24 with an objective to give impetus to the BJP’s (Bhartiya Janta Party) campaign for the upcoming lok Sabha elections.
“Survey says that nation trusts Modi. The BJP must field good candidates so that people vote in favour of the party,” pointed out Ramdev.
The yoga guru lambasted the Congress and party’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi for “corruption, anarchy and inflation” in the country and projected BJP’s prime ministerial candidate as the solution to the problems allegedly created by the Congress.
“Congress is at the root of all problems and Modi is the only leader who can free the country from the clutches of crime and corruption (spread by the Congress),” maintained the yoga guru.
Earlier, while batting for Modi, the Yoga guru tried to stir up passion around the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate emphasising his elevation to the post of the Prime Minister as necessary to bring down inflation from “30 to 50 per cent” besides controlling the flight of “black money” to other parts of the world. “Modi has the ability to become a good Prime Minister. If he doesn’t become Prime Minister then the country will slide on the path of anarchy,” continued Ramdev.
Interestingly, Ramdev who was courted by BJP leaders to the public function suggested a slew of positive changes that a change in guard at the centre will bring in the country. The Yoga guru’s rosy predictions encompassed reduction in petroleum prices and bringing back black money to the country stashed outside.
