BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday maintained that the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya would begin before this year-end with the cooperation of “Muslims” and an action plan for that would be unveiled here on January 9 after academicians at a two-day national seminar discuss historical, archeological and legal issues relating to the Ramjanmbhumi tangle.
As already reported in The Pioneer, the seminar at Delhi University campus would deliberate on the emerging scenario connected with the temple construction and the future course after the Supreme Court judgment “expected by August-September”.
The seminar would illustrate how the historical, archeological and legal view is increasingly supporting a verdict “favourable to the temple construction”.
Swamy made it clear that the temple would not come up through a movement but with the active cooperation of “Muslim brothers”. He said a mosque would also be constructed on the other side of the Saryu River.
“We expect the construction work on the Ram temple at Ayodhya to start within the next two-three months and certainly before the end of this year. We will wait for a court verdict and the temple would not come up through any ‘andolan’ (movement),” he told news persons at the VHP office here.
Asked if the decision was linked to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in early 2017, he said, “Ram should not be linked with elections. Ram is a matter of faith for Hindus and construction of the temple at Ayodhya is a commitment of every Hindu.” He said if the issue comes up later, it will then be linked to the next lok Sabha polls.
The BJP leader claimed that efforts are being made to resolve the issue amicably between Hindus and Muslims so that the temple and the masjid come up on both sides of the Saryu River in Ayodhya.
Around 300 scholars, academics and archaeologists would attend the seminar here. It will be organised under the aegis of ‘Arundhati Vashisht Anusandhan Peeth’.
“An action plan will be presented at the conference and the Government would be urged to move the court and become a party in the case,” he said.
