Mounting pressure on the Shiv Sena and BJP to finalise the seat-sharing arrangement between them for the October 15 State Assembly polls without any further delay, Raju Shetti-led Swabhimani Paksha, one of the four other constituents of the saffron alliance-led ‘Maha-Yuti’, on Thursday threatened to go it alone in the polls, if the two partners failed to hammer out an electoral tie-up between them by September 21. A day after he took an initiative to facilitate an early seat-sharing agreement between the Shiv Sena and BJP for the State Assembly, Swabhimani Paksha chief and sitting MP Raju Shetti requested both the saffron alliance partners to end their game of one-upmanship and finalise the tie-up for the polls. “If the saffron alliance partners stick adamantly to their respect their position and in the process fail to reach a seat-sharing agreement between them till September 21, we will have no alternative but to contest the Assembly polls on our strength. In such an event, my party intends to contest as many as 63 seats in the state,” Shetti said. Meanwhile, in what enhanced the BJP’s poll prospects in Mumbai, MNS’ sitting MlA and Raj Thackeray’s one-time confidant Ram Kadam joined the party in the presence of its national president Amit Shah in Pune on Thursday evening.
