Rajnath wants historians to do research on local heroes

Asking local historians to highlight the roles of local heroes, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said foreign historians have ignored great personalities for reasons best known to them, thus, giving a skewed perspective to the history.

“The Indian history is resplendent with heroes who fought for the community at local levels. Their names might not be that big but their contribution cannot be ignored. The local historians should conduct research on such personalities so that they get a proper place in the history,” Singh said while addressing a programme organised by Maharaja Suheldev Jan Seva Sansthan here on Wednesday.

He asked how many of us know that Maharaja Suheldev had made Syed Salar Masoor, nephew of Mahmood Gaznavi to bite the dust. This was important development but no one knows about is because historians have not written about that war in such detail.

“The historians of the country should come forward and do research on such personalities and persons to ensure them honourable and due place in history. It will help future generations to take encouragement from them and their lives,” he added.

He, however, criticised some political organisations for classifying these personalities in caste lines. “These leaders do not belong to any caste but some political parties use their names and pictures to get political mileage,” he said and added, “This trend should end. These names belong to whole country.”

Addressing another function at the residence of Kaushal Kishore, MP, from Mohanlalganj he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working silently. He is not perturbed by criticism.
