BJP president Rajnath Singh picked up from where his party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi left on Sunday launching a scathing attack against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for playing with India's honour — by publicly rubbishing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s decision (on an Ordinance) at a time when he was meeting the world leaders in an international forum.
“Though we are in the Opposition we cannot take any public humiliation of the Prime Minister as his humiliation is India's humiliation,” Singh on Monday thundered at a party meeting in Kolkata and wondered, “will you still want the reigns of the country to be left in the hands of a person like this!”
Rajnath was speaking in the context of Gandhi’s outburst against an Ordinance designed by the UPA Government to protect the convicted lawmakers.
“The way Rahul publicly blasted a Cabinet decision particularly at a time when the PM was meeting the world leaders has lowered the respect of the country. Was it necessary to call the Prime Minister’s decision nonsenseIJ Couldn’t he have called him up personally and sorted things outIJ Couldn't have he demanded a Cabinet meeting and communicated his concerns to the Prime Minister when he came backIJ” Singh asked wondering whether Gandhi was trying to “spread anarchy” in India.
