Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has blamed Congress for blocking the Bill to give constitutional status to National Commission for Backward classes(NCBC). Addressing a mammoth gathering of Vishwakarma community in Bengaluru on Sunday, Home Minister said,
“Modi Government will not refrain from according constitutional status to the NCBC”.
“The Opposition Congress is blocking the Bill in the Rajya Sabha,” he added.
Singh said to ensure social and economic justice to all backward castes in the country, the Government had decided to provide constitutional status to the NCBC. The lok Sabha passed the Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill, 2017, in April. However, the Congress blocked the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
“You people need not beg for social justice. It’s your right. The Modi Government has constituted a committee for sub-categorisation of various castes in the OBC list to ensure justice to all small and marginalised castes”, he added.
The Vishwakarma Sammelan organised by KP Nanjundi, a popular leader of the community has recently joined BJP from the Congress.
Rajnath Singh also said the Doklam standoff with China was resolved because India has become a global power. “Everyone is expecting that the relations between India and China will deteriorate due to the Doklam issue but both the countries resolved the issue with comprehension,” he added.
Had India remained weak the Doklam standoff would not have been resolved till now. It was possible only because India has become a world power,” he said. BJP State president BS Yeddyurappa and host of other leaders were present.
