Rajnath slams Assam Cong for infiltration

Taking a dig at the Congress for illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday said that the Congress Government had turned a blind eye to the infiltration and assured that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre will seal the Indo-Bangladesh border entirely.

“There has been infiltration from Bangladesh into Assam after the creation of Bangladesh. However, the Congress never took the issue seriously and infiltration continued. The Congress had destroyed the State for their vote-bank politics,” said Singh while addressing a rally at Duliajan in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Wednesday.

“We are going to seal the Indo-Bangladesh International border. I have already visited the border areas and taken up the matter with Bangladesh too,” said Singh.

The Home Minister further said that the law and order situation in Assam has improved considerably after the BJP Government assumed power at the Centre and appealed to all the anti-talk faction militant outfits to shun the path of violence and join the national mainstream.

“It is a fact that incidents keep on happening in Assam but the Centre had taken up the matter seriously. When innocent Adivasis were killed in 2014, I rushed to Assam and made it clear that violence will not be tolerated at any cost. I appeal all the insurgent factions to shun violence. If there is a problem we can sort out by talking over negotiating table. But we cannot tolerate bloods of innocent people,” Singh said while sending a strong message to the anti-talk faction of militants.

The Home Minister also blamed the Congress Government for the reports of fake currency being pushed from across the country and said that the NDA Government is committed to end the problem and that efforts have already been initiated in this regard.

“The Prime Minister has assured to stop corruption in the country and now you all know that there is not a single case of corruption against any of the Ministers of the NDA Government for last two years. We are going to stop corruption if we come to power in Assam,” he said.
