BJP president Rajnath Singh on Thursday asked the Congress to declare its prime ministerial candidate saying that every political party should declare their PM candidate so that the people of the country get enough time to evaluate the leader as well as the party.
“I have told with conviction earlier that the BJP will declare its prime ministerial candidate in due time and we have done that,” he said. The BJP president also launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre and said that due to the wrong economic policies of the UPA, the country’s economy is in the ICU at present.
“While the economy is in the ICU, US $ is on escalator and the rupee on ventilator. Even the domestic investors are on the runways and the unemployed youth are on the highways,” said Singh, adding all this is due to the wrong policies of the Government.
“Corruption is rampant and there is no mechanism developed by the Government to minimise it. However, the Government had developed mechanism to cover up corruption,” he said, adding problems have deepened further during the UPA regime.
He also took a dig at the missing files of the coalgate and said, “First we should ascertain whether those are missing files or stolen files. If our party forms the Government, we would prove that those were actually stolen files. The Government had on Wednesday handed over to the CBI a list of missing files but I want to ask them if the files were missing then why the Government did not register FIRsIJ”
Singh also took up the issues of the Northeastern States and said the BJP’s vision document ahead of the next lok Sabha polls will have separate chapters for development of the North-East region.
“The Congress had always looked at the region with step-motherly attitude. However, the region is BJP’s priority. The blueprint for development of the region is already being prepared,” he said, adding the BJP, if comes to power, will initiate active steps to stop the fast changing demography of the region.
“There will be unexpected results in the N-E in the next year’s lok Sabha polls. The party has given all the necessary instructions to the State units in the region and the State units will finalise on how many seats the party will put up candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary polls,” he added.
