The Jharkhand unit of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan will organise ‘Sarvodaya Sankalp’ camps in all districts to strengthen its organisational network at the grassroots level and prepare for the upcoming panchayat elections.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the organisation’s state executive committee at Congress Bhawan in Ranchi on Wednesday. The meeting also discussed participation in the ‘Vote Bachao’ campaign and rally scheduled to be held in Delhi on November 1.

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, state Congress co-in-charge Bhupendra Maravi and the organisation’s Jharkhand in-charge, Ashika Kujur, attended the meeting. They called for stronger coordination among office-bearers and workers and greater public participation in democratic institutions.

Kamlesh urged party functionaries to strengthen the organisation at district, block and panchayat levels, maintain regular public contact and take initiatives to address local issues. He emphasised the need to begin preparations for the panchayat elections well in advance and use the ‘Sarvodaya Sankalp’ camps to mobilise and train workers.

Maravi said the organisation’s strength lay in its grassroots workers and their continued engagement with the public. He called on district coordinators to conduct regular organisational activities and improve coordination among workers.

State coordinator Shantanu Mishra highlighted the importance of the proposed camps in expanding the organisation, activating workers and understanding local problems. He also stressed the need for active participation by office-bearers in preparations for the panchayat elections.

The meeting decided to assign responsibilities to district coordinators for organising the camps and extending organisational activities to panchayat-level units. Participants also discussed ensuring the participation of Jharkhand office-bearers and workers in the November 1 ‘Vote Bachao’ campaign in Delhi.

State convener Subhash Nag and several district coordinators and office-bearers attended the meeting, including Ritesh Tamsoy, Faneshwar Nath Nilesh, Vinay Kumar, Ranchi metropolitan district coordinator Anjani Ranjan, Chatra district coordinator Yogendra Yadav and East Singhbhum district coordinator Pawan Kumar Bablu.

The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts to expand the organisation, strengthen grassroots engagement and prepare for the forthcoming panchayat elections.
